He is considered to be the fastest sprinters worldwide and he is the triple winner of Tour de France’s sprinters’ classification. Having started at the age of 18, at the Australian Institute of Sport, he competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics securing the 23rd position and the 2000 Summer Olympics where he successfully stood19th. He also won medals in 2002 UCI Road Cycling World Championship in Belgium.
Robbie Mcewen has won several titles like Australian Cyclist of the Year and Male Road Cyclist of the Year in 2002, before which in 1999, he was declared as Australia Male Road Cyclist of the Year. Having participated in the Tour de France for 12 times and winning most of them, he has many winning feathers in his cap.

In September 2011 he joined the new Australian team GreenEDGE for which he still continues to ride. He published an autobiography in 2011 named One Way Road.
