History:
Centenary Bikeways Group (CBG) is a Bicycle Users Group (BUG) and was originally
formed to promote the construction of bikeways and bike lanes within the local
area, making a submission to Brisbane City Council for the revision of the
Bicycle Brisbane Plan Review 2000.
CBG Community of
interest covers the Queensland State Electorates of Mount Ommaney and
Indooroopilly including Brisbane City Council Wards of Jamboree and Walter
Taylor. CBG also maintains a watching brief on the bikeway connecting corridors
through the adjoining Queensland State Electorates of Inala and Bundamba,
including Ipswich City Council Divisions 2, 3 and 4 and Brisbane City Council
Wards of Richlands and Toowong, and the Bicentennial Bikeway link to Brisbane
Central Business District. See
CBG
Community of Interest Map. For better detail refer to RACQ’s current
Brisbane City Map.
Currently:
CBG
represents the Centenary Suburbs community's aspirations and interests in
cycling, through advocacy, and safe practice. As well as promoting the
construction, maintenance and safe use of bikeways and bike lanes, we promote
cycling,
(and to a lesser extent also promote other ‘active transport modes’ –
walking, canoeing/kayaking) as a
healthy lifestyle. As ‘eco-tourists’ CBG
members promote ‘active transport’, while taking an active interest in, and both
economically and culturally supporting, those smaller local communities and
their enterprises encountered along connecting and local roads.
To promote cycling
we run rides every Saturday and Sunday, and some Wednesday evenings.
We encourage and welcome new riders of all ability levels and all types of
bikes. Novice riders are encouraged to begin with Saturday rides, which are
shorter in distance and are ridden at a more leisurely pace.

Our Regular rides
leave Amazons Skate Park at Jindalee, which is at UBD Map Ref: Map 177 Q17. (Click on

New Riders:
New riders are always welcome. The group is not large, but we have ages
ranging from teenagers to seniors, we have males and females, we have
faster riders and slower riders. We have people riding on all sorts of
bikes. For any new riders who are unsure as to which ride would suit
them best, the Saturday rides are probably the best starting point. For very inexperienced riders, we suggest you meet us at
Toowong Bus Depot for a leisurely flat ride along the Coronation Drive
Bike path to Southbank.
Bicycle Queensland Membership:
You do not need to be a member of Bicycle Queensland to
ride with us, however we do encourage our members to join BQ. Benefits of
